Dr. Liu, from Panasonic Boston Laboratory visited C-UFO on 10th June, 2014 and gave the public talk on "Picosecond lasers for precision microprocessing". Prof. Hong-Bo Sun hosted the talk.
Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science (CUOS), the University of Michigan in 1994. After completing a post-doctoral study at CUOS, he was appointed as an assistant research scientist at the Center working on ultrafast laser micromachining before joining Electro Scientific Industries in Portland, Oregon, as a senior R&D engineer. In 1998 he joined Panasonic Boston Laboratory as a project manager, and became director of Panasonic Boston Laboratory in 2006. Besides managing the lab, he still focuses much of his time developing technologies in picosecond lasers, laser manufacturing technologies, and micro-optics for Panasonic's various products. Xin-Bing Liu is a Fellow of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.
